The most consistent fishery on the calendar and the easiest day to say yes to. Speckled trout, redfish, bull redfish, and sharks inside the Galveston jetties. Year-round, weather permitting, from $495 all-in.
Replies within the hour. The captain answers his own phone.
The jetties are the rock walls that guard the entrance to Galveston Bay, and they hold fish every month of the year.
Departure is from Slip C7 at the Galveston Yacht Basin and the fishing starts within minutes. No two-hour run, no fuel burned getting there, no long stretch of open water for anyone who is unsure about their stomach. That combination is why this is the trip the captain recommends for first-timers, for kids, and for groups who want lines in the water fast.
Target species rotate through the year: speckled trout, redfish, bull redfish, sharks, and kingfish and ling when they push in close. The bite moves with the tide, which is why the captain picks the departure around the water rather than the clock when he can.
Trips run morning at first light or afternoon at 1 PM. The afternoon departure suits travelers who drove in that morning and anglers who would rather fish the evening bite than set an alarm.
Kid-sized life jackets are aboard and the water inside the jetties is the calmest the boat fishes. The captain has thirty years of experience getting a first fish onto a small rod.
Rods, reels, bait, and rigging are handled. If you have never held a saltwater rod, the captain will show you how, and there is nobody else on the boat watching.
The jetty runs every day of the year, weather permitting, which makes it the trip most likely to have a date open when you call this week.
The four-hour trips are priced for two anglers with additional anglers at $50 each. The five-hour extended trips are priced flat for up to six.
Speckled trout, redfish, bull redfish, sharks, kingfish, ling. First light departure, back at the dock by midday. 2 anglers base, $50 each additional.
Same fishery on the afternoon departure. Good fit if you arrived in Galveston that morning or prefer the evening bite. 2 anglers base, $50 each additional.
An extra hour and room for six. More shots at the bite and time to make a longer move if the morning starts slow.
The afternoon version of the extended trip. Often the better window late in the season as the bite shifts later in the day.
Bull redfish, inside the rocks.
Speckled trout, family trip.
Clear water at the jetty.
Four hours of fishing for two anglers with rods, Shimano reels, tackle, bait, fuel, ice and cooler space, and catch cleaning at the dock. Additional anglers are $50 each. There is no fuel surcharge.
It is the best trip on the calendar for them. Children 3 and up are welcome, kid-sized life jackets are aboard, and the water inside the jetties is far calmer than anything offshore.
Yes. The four-hour jetty trips run year-round, weather permitting. The five-hour extended trips run May 15 through November 15.
Six anglers maximum. The four-hour trips are priced for two with $50 per additional angler; the five-hour extended trips are a flat $800 for up to six.
Everyone over 17 needs a current Texas saltwater fishing license. Buy one online at tpwd.texas.gov before the trip. The captain cannot sell licenses on the boat.
Same boat, same captain, different water. Every trip below runs off the same dock at Slip C7.
